What Is Lifting Botox?

There's a Botox that creates a lifting effect?!

From how it works to pain, longevity of results, side effects, and how to choose the right treatment.

When people hear “Botox,” many first think of treatments that smooth forehead and glabella wrinkles or slim the jaw muscles.

So how can lifting Botox actually lift the face?

Lifting Botox is a treatment that uses botulinum toxin to tidy up facial sagging.

What matters is where the same drug is placed, how superficially, and at what concentration it is divided.
So how does lifting Botox work, who is it right for, and how long do the results last? Let us walk through the questions we hear most often.

Q1. What kind of treatment is lifting Botox?

Lifting Botox is a non-surgical treatment that places small amounts of the drug close to the skin surface along the facial contour and down to the jawline to tidy up a sagging appearance. It uses the same drug, but its purpose and injection design differ from standard wrinkle Botox.

The technique of injecting along the jawline and neckline has been called the Nefertiti lift, and placing small amounts of toxin superficially in the dermis has been called mesotoxin (skin Botox). These are not different drugs but injection methods that design the same family of toxin for a lifting purpose.

Standard wrinkle Botox relaxes the expression muscles of the forehead, glabella, and eye area to smooth wrinkles, whereas lifting Botox selectively reduces the pull of the muscles that drag the face downward, shifting the balance of tension.

However, the depth and angle of each technique can differ from clinic to clinic, so it is worth asking specifically about the details during your consultation.

Q2. How does it lift the face?

The first principle is muscle rebalancing. With age, the downward pull becomes relatively dominant, so the jawline loses definition and the facial contour starts to look sagging.

Lifting Botox relaxes the downward-pulling muscles so that the lifting muscles gain relative advantage, moving the direction of force on facial tissue upward.

In short, lifting Botox is a combination of two designs: where to release (the depressor muscles) and how superficially and finely to divide the dose (superficial micro-injection).

Even with the same lifting Botox, the outcome and effect can differ depending on the treatment design.

Q3. Who is it suitable for?

Lifting Botox tends to suit people at the stage where skin has begun to loosen and muscle pull starts to make the face look heavy.

  • When the jawline is starting to blur and the lower face looks heavy

  • When the corners of the mouth droop, making the face look stern at rest

  • When you want to keep your expressions but naturally tidy your overall look

  • When you want to start with something low-burden before surgery or device-based treatments

  • Those who have not yet found a contouring approach that suits them

It is especially presented as a suitable approach for those at the stage when sagging begins, who want to tidy the overall impression and jawline rather than rebuild the whole face.

There are clear limits, however. Lifting Botox changes the direction of muscle pull; it is not a treatment that physically lifts loosened skin or sagging fat.

In moderate or greater sagging where skin laxity and fat descent progress together, the effect alone may be limited; in such cases, combining it with lifting treatments such as Ultherapy, Thermage, or Onda can maximize the synergy.

Q4. How is it different from standard Botox or other lifting treatments?

The most common question is, “Is the drug different from standard Botox?” The drug itself is the same botulinum toxin. What differs is the purpose and the design.

Standard wrinkle Botox relaxes expression muscles to smooth wrinkles, and jaw Botox reduces the volume of the masseter muscles.

Lifting Botox releases the depressor muscles through an individually tailored design to shift the balance of pull, and is injected in divided points along the facial contour.

Q5. Is it painful? How long does it take?

Pain and bruising vary widely from person to person. Even in the same area, the experience differs with skin thickness and sensitivity, the number of injection points, and the practitioner's skill, so it is hard to state flatly that it is “not painful.”

The procedure itself is short, around 10 to 20 minutes, though it can vary with the injection area and number of points.

Downtime is usually minimal. Needle marks, slight bruising, or temporary swelling may remain for about 1 to 3 days, but in most cases you can wash your face, apply light makeup, and go about your day the same day. If you have an important schedule, it is safer to book with a few days' buffer.

Q6. When do results appear, and how long do they last? How does DORÉ Clinic approach it?

DORÉ Clinic approaches lifting Botox not as a treatment of volume but as a treatment of design.

We first look at which muscles engage and how much when you make expressions, along with left-right balance and the flow of the jawline, then set the injection points, depth, and angle.

Four points come first. The first is genuine product used in full dose. We tell you which product is used and how many units, and record it.

Second, an individually tailored design. We take into account each person's facial muscles, skin thickness, and degree of looseness, and along the jawline especially we avoid excessive doses and spread them widely to reduce the chance of side effects.

Third, preserving expression. The goal is not to erase wrinkles but to tidy the overall impression, so adjustments stay within a range that does not look awkward when you smile.

Fourth, combination planning. For those with advanced sagging, rather than pushing lifting Botox alone, we can plan the sequence together with ultrasound or radiofrequency lifting, or skin boosters.

Of course, we cannot guarantee identical results for every patient. Differences that appear during recovery, such as bruising, swelling, or temporary changes in expression, also vary from person to person.

What we can do is provide a more natural and comfortable experience through thorough consultation and careful design.

If you are considering lifting Botox, rather than comparing names alone, first check the direction of pull in your face and what is causing your sagging.
